Quant manager Teza opens new London office

Teza Technologies, a global quantitative multi-strategy, multi-PM hedge fund manager with more than $500 million in assets under management, is opening its first European office in London.

The new office, which will serve as the headquarters of the firm’s expanding European investment operations, will be led by Dr James Chavin, who is joining Teza as President and will oversee Teza’s investment operations in Europe.

Following a strong period of performance and growth, Teza’s expansion into London seeks to better serve the firm’s growing investor base and facilitate increased participation in European markets. Teza’s existing European investor teams, hired earlier this year, will operate from the new London location, and the firm plans to continue to grow its headcount via innovative hires to its multi-strategy fund platform.

“We look forward to serving our clients through our new London office, and are thrilled to welcome James to Teza as he leads our European investment operations,” said Dr Misha Malyshev, Founder, CEO and Chief Investment Officer at Teza. “The London office will be the focal point in our growth towards European markets and trailblazing new investment strategies. We believe that James’s proven abilities in business growth and his investment acumen make him the ideal leader for this new chapter.”

Chavin most recently spent 17 years at McKinsey & Company, including eight as a Senior Partner. During this time, he led McKinsey’s Restructuring and Transformation Practice in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia, where he served both creditors and debtors in Chapter 11 and out-of-court processes. Chavin is a Chartered Finance Analyst (CFA) and spent seven years as analyst, portfolio manager, and founding member of global macro, long, and long-short funds. James has a PhD in Political Science from University of California at Berkeley and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Stanford University.
