Portfolio intelligence platform Arcana has launched an integration with Claude, giving hedge funds and asset managers access to portfolio, risk, performance and research data through the artificial intelligence platform.

The integration, available through Claude's official Connector Directory, uses Arcana's Model Context Protocol connector to allow investment professionals to query and analyse institutional portfolio data using natural-language prompts.

The technology is designed to ground Claude's responses in the portfolio information and research already used by investment teams, potentially allowing managers to move more quickly from data analysis to investment decisions.

Investment professionals can use the integration to examine portfolio risks and exposures, assess recent performance, analyse themes and crowding, compare positioning against benchmarks and retrieve relevant research and investment notes. The system can also be used to review proprietary data such as price targets and conviction scores and explore potential hedging opportunities.

Arcana co-founder and chief executive Rich Falk-Wallace said the usefulness of AI in investment management depends on its ability to understand the same portfolio, risk and research context as the investment professional.

The Claude integration is part of Arcana's broader effort to make its portfolio intelligence available across the technology stack used by investment teams. Clients can already access the platform through its web, desktop and iOS applications, as well as Excel, APIs, automated reporting and other AI interfaces.

Arcana provides tools covering portfolio construction, performance attribution, risk management, research and alpha capture, alongside AI-enabled workflows. The company says more than 300 institutions managing over $20tn in assets use its platform.
