Citadel and ExodusPoint have seen a series of departures from their London macro trading teams as challenging market conditions put pressure on portfolio managers across the hedge fund industry, according to a report by eFinancialCareers.

At Citadel, senior macro volatility portfolio manager Avi Tullu departed in September, just a year after joining from Pimco, while Simon Roach, a former head of EMEA rates trading at Merrill Lynch, left in October following more than a decade at the firm. The departures come amid reports that as many as 100 macro investment professionals have left or lost their positions across London's hedge fund sector.

ExodusPoint has also experienced turnover, with senior macro analyst Soham Sengupta departing in October after joining in December 2025. Foreign exchange trader Rupert Guest, who arrived from Barclays in January 2025, and Jim McKeever, who joined from Caxton Associates in 2024, have also left, according to Financial Conduct Authority records.

Despite the departures, Citadel continues to recruit across its macro business, recently hiring experienced HSBC foreign exchange trader Vineet Mudgil alongside Emaad Alvi from Tudor Investment Corporation and Max Dykes from RBC. The firm has also strengthened its New York rates team with the appointment of Pedro Goldbaum from Deutsche Bank.
