Citadel has appointed Willis Kidd as its new head of agriculture after Robert Crosby left the firm. Kidd, who joined the $53 billion hedge fund in 2014, is running the agriculture team from Chicago having been promoted to portfolio manager, according to a report by Reuters.
Founded by billionaire investor Ken Griffin, Citadel has been growing its agriculture team, which has tripled in size since the end of 2018, with Crosby originally joining in 2019 to help the firm expand its soft commodities, livestock and biofuels trading. The fund also invests in natural gas, power, crude and refined products through a commodities team led by Sebastian Barrack.
Before joining Citadel, which is in the process of moving its HQ from Chicago to Miami, Kidd was employed at crop trading specialist Louis Dreyfus Co and has previously worked for both Balyasny Asset Management and Elliott Management Corp.
