Deutsche Bank has reportedly lost Alexander Akinbile, a vice president specialising in hedge fund rates sales, just months after promoting him to the role, according to a report by eFinancialCareers.
Akinbile is understood to have left the German lender in recent weeks, with speculation that he could be joining an investment fund, although his next destination has not been confirmed. He spent approximately five years at Deutsche Bank after initially joining as an intern in 2020 and was promoted to vice president in February 2026.
His departure comes amid continued competition for experienced fixed income professionals across investment banks, hedge funds and market-making firms. Citadel Securities has previously recruited rates specialists from Goldman Sachs as it expands its macro trading capabilities in London.
The move also follows a challenging third quarter for Deutsche Bank's fixed income trading division, highlighting the importance of retaining specialist talent serving institutional and hedge fund clients.
