The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has published the calendar for the auctioning of EU emission allowances (EUA) for 2018 in coordination with the European Commission and the participating member states as well as with the competent German authorities.
EEX will carry out EUA auctions on behalf of 25 member states on three days per week in the framework of the common EU auction platform. These auctions are scheduled to take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the period of 8 January to 17 December 2018.
In its capacity as the auction platform appointed by the Federal Republic of Germany, EEX will carry out weekly EUA auctions on Fridays, starting from 12 January until 14 December 2018. On 14 November 2018 EEX’s contract as the German auction platform terminates. Thus all subsequent auction dates at EEX on behalf of Germany shall be considered indicative. Upon appointment, the succeeding German auction platform will confirm dates and volumes in due time.
In its capacity as the common EU auction platform, EEX will auction off the Polish share of emission allowances until a national opt-out platform has been established. Auctions on behalf of Poland will take place every second Wednesday during the period from 17 January to 5 December 2018.
