Seattle-based USD9bn fund of hedge funds manager Silver Creek Capital Management has appointed Frances Orabona, a former vice-president at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, as director of investor relations.

Based in New York, Orabona is responsible for developing and implementing client service strategies, managing investment communications, and providing client service for many of Silver Creek's global investors. Silver Creek also has an office in New York.

 'Frances is a highly qualified client service professional,' says Silver Creek president Bryan Weeks. 'Her addition will further enhance Silver Creek's infrastructure and enable us to meet better the increasing needs of our sophisticated institutional and high net worth clients.'

Managing director Spencer Potts says: 'We look forward to leveraging Frances' significant relationships with corporate pension funds and other institutional investors, as well as her strong knowledge of alternative investment products.'

At Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Orabona managed the firm's relationships with 30 significant corporate pension plans, representing more than USD20bn in assets under management. Earlier she spent five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a business assurance manager.
