Voisin, one of Jersey's longest established law firms, has appointed leading fund specialist Bill Gibbon as a new partner in recognition of his strong contribution to the continuing success of the practice.

Gibbon is a commercial lawyer who originally qualified in the City as an English solicitor with magic circle firm Linklaters, and has led Voisin's investment funds, hedge funds and Shari'a funds department since joining the firm in 1996.

He is an acknowledged expert on Islamic structures and has been instrumental in pioneering developments in Islamic securitisations.

Says Voisin managing partner Ian Strang: 'Bill and his team have pioneered the way in dealing with Shari'a-compliant financial structures for collective investment funds, property financing structures and family estate planning purposes.

'The team has developed a particular expertise in the creation of specialist investment vehicles aimed at Middle Eastern institutions and investors.
