Jain Global has strengthened its London equities operation with the appointment of two senior portfolio managers, continuing to build out its investment team despite the hedge fund's transition to managing capital for Millennium, according to a report by eFinanical Careers.
Valentin Tataru has joined from JPMorgan, where he spent roughly 20 years trading hybrid securities. He has taken up an equity arbitrage portfolio manager role at Jain Global.
Murat Boston has also joined the London platform, moving from KMB Capital, the equity market-neutral fund he founded and ran for two years. Before launching KMB, Boston was an equities portfolio manager at Millennium, where he focused on technology, media and telecommunications stocks.
Jain Global reportedly declined to comment on the appointments.
The hires come amid continued questions about the future structure of Jain Global following the firm's move away from operating as an independent hedge fund and towards managing capital for Millennium.
Jain Global reportedly ended its period as an independent fund with a 0.2% loss, while the firm has continued to recruit investment professionals and promote its platform as one built around collaboration between portfolio managers.
