Leading offshore legal and fiduciary services group Ogier is expanding its structured finance operation in Ireland with the purchase of a substantial portion of the Pegasus Corporate Services client base plus supporting infrastructure.
The expansion of the business, which will be called Ogier Fiduciary Services (Ireland), comes 18 months after Ogier first started providing administration services in Ireland, the largest SPV domicile in the European Union with more than 2,000 incorporations every year and an extensive network of bilateral taxation agreements.
Says Ogier Group chairman Jonathan White: 'Having a strong administration offering in Ireland is a key component to the continued growth of our structured finance business, as Ireland continues to demonstrate that it is a premier onshore jurisdiction and domicile of choice for the securitisation industry.'
Adds head of structured finance Chris Byrne: 'Clients are expressing a strong preference for having their structured finance transactions administered in Ireland. We expect this trend to continue as Irish SPVs are increasingly the choice in the international onshore market.'
Ogier provides advice on all aspects of BVI, Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey law and associated fiduciary services through a global network of offices that cover all time zones and key financial markets. The group employs more than 600 professional and support staff in its home base of Jersey as well as the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, London, Montevideo and New Zealand.
The core of the group's business consists of corporate and finance law, principally in the areas of banking, corporate and commercial, investment funds, private client, real estate, and structured finance. Ogier also has strong practices in the areas of employee benefits, employment law, litigation and property.
