Optiver has appointed former Rokos Capital Management partner Andrius Jankunas as global head of quantitative modelling and strategy, strengthening its senior trading leadership in London, according to a report by eFinancialCareers.
Jankunas joined Rokos in 2018 and served as global head of quantitative modelling and strategy throughout his tenure at the macro hedge fund. He has spent the past two years out of the market during a non-compete period before joining the Amsterdam-headquartered electronic trading firm.
Prior to Rokos, Jankunas spent nearly two decades at Goldman Sachs, holding senior quantitative strategy positions across commodities, credit, equities and fixed income. His most recent role at the bank was head of commodities strats for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The appointment represents a significant senior hire for Optiver's London operation, which has expanded steadily in recent years alongside the firm's larger trading businesses in Amsterdam, Chicago and New York.
Jankunas's move also highlights continued competition between hedge funds and proprietary trading firms for senior quantitative talent, particularly as proposed UK reforms to non-compete restrictions could reshape recruitment across the sector.
