Point72 is set to ramp up the quota of quants based at its London office in St James's Square, having steadily added Portfolio Managers and Analysts in recent months, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.

Of the 28 currently open vacancies at Steve Cohen's London operation, 23 mention quants, including openings for both entry-level and experienced Quant Researchers, with other roles requesting Java experience. The fund's algorithmic trading arm, Cubist Systematic Strategies, is also recruiting for a quant PM, based in either London or New York.

Point72's London hires so far this year have mainly been in equities, including Julien Rossi who joined earlier this month as a Portfolio Manager, having previously spent time at Marshall Wace and Morgan Stanley.

Other recent Equity Analyst hires include Björn Stadel, formerly of Goldman Sachs, and Vasilis Chatzilakos who joined Point72 from hedge fund SPX Capital. Another significant hire in London this year is Portfolio Manager Daniel Escobar, who joined from Millennium.
