Schonfeld Strategic Advisors has more than tripled its London business development headcount since 2022, reflecting increased investment in portfolio manager recruitment, according to a report by eFinancialCareers.
Newly filed UK accounts show that Schonfeld's London workforce has expanded by 71 employees since 2022, with business development recording the strongest proportional growth across the firm.
The team, responsible for identifying and recruiting portfolio managers, grew from six employees in 2022 to 20 at the end of 2025, as competition for investment talent intensified among multi-manager hedge funds.
Schonfeld also expanded its London portfolio management team, adding a net nine portfolio managers in 2025 and 25 since 2022. By contrast, headcount in trading, risk management and traditional human resources functions declined over the same period.
The expansion comes amid continued competition for investment professionals between major multi-strategy platforms. Schonfeld has itself lost recruitment talent to rivals, with senior equities recruiter Sameer Buch leaving for Millennium earlier this year.
Despite its hiring activity, the firm has also experienced departures from its investment team. FCA records indicate that five investment professionals left in September, including portfolio managers Rastko Miletic and Joseph Bond, alongside Andrew Prentice, Peter Hunt and Sourabh Tripathi.
Those departures are understood to have followed the August exit of Manus Baveja to Dymon.
The figures highlight Schonfeld's continued emphasis on portfolio manager recruitment as a driver of its London expansion, even as the firm experiences turnover within its investment teams.
