The gross return of the SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index December 2016 measured 1.29 per cent.
Hedge fund flows as measured by the SS&C GlobeOp Capital Movement Index meanwhile, declined 3.05 per cent in January.
"SS&C GlobeOp's Capital Movement Index for January 2017 was -3.05 per cent, an improvement from the -3.28 per cent reported a year ago for January 2016," says Bill Stone (pictured), chairman and chief executive officer, SS&C Technologies.
"Capital flows in and out of hedge funds are very seasonal and the month of January typically sees the largest net outflows of the year. Taking this seasonality into account, January 2017 was relatively favourable and, in fact, saw the lowest net outflows for any month of January in the past four years."
