Walleye Capital has appointed two senior executives to its equity long-short business as the $17bn multi-strategy hedge fund continues to expand its investment platform following the departure of Matt Giannini to Citadel, Business Insider reports.
Jordan Tanner, formerly chief equities strategist at Balyasny Asset Management, and Anna Dev, who joins from Millennium Management, are expected to start at Walleye in mid-2027, according to the report.
Tanner will focus on improving collaboration across the firm's fundamental equities, volatility and central strategy teams, including through the use of artificial intelligence. Dev will be responsible for investment talent recruitment and evaluating opportunities to back external managers.
The appointments come as Walleye continues to build out its equities business under Anil Gondi, a former Balyasny portfolio manager. Giannini, who served as chief operating officer of the division for less than a year, is returning to Citadel for a third spell at the firm, where he is expected to support the expansion of its equities business.
