Capstone Investment Advisors has closed its Singapore office, its only Asian footprint, and decided to centralize its trading operations in London and its New York headquarters reported FINalternatives this week, quoting HFMWeek. London will now serve as the Asia trading centre for the USD1.3billion global volatility hedge fund manager. Three of the Singapore office’s six employees will relocate there. With its progressive regulatory regime and attractive lifestyle, more global hedge funds are choosing to open offices in the Lion City, the most high profile fund in recent times being Fortress Investment Group. Quite why Capstone has decided to leave is unclear. It wouldn’t appear to be a performance-related decision: the firm’s flagship fund is apparently up 11 per cent this year.
