HSBC Global Asset Management has appointed John Ware as Senior Product Specialist for hedge funds in its Alternatives team.
Ware will be responsible for HSBC Global Asset Management’s established hedge fund product offering and expanding the platform to a larger institutional investor base globally. Based in London, he will report to Steven Ward, Global Head of Alternative Products, HSBC Global Asset Management.
Ware joins from BlackRock where he was a senior product specialist for BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA), the firm’s hedge fund solutions platform. Prior to joining BlackRock, he worked in the Ultra High Net Worth client team at Barclays Wealth as a specialist delivering cross-platform solutions, including alternative investment opportunities.
Ward says: “John brings a wealth of experience to his new role and will be a valuable addition to the team. His appointment demonstrates our continued focus and commitment to expanding our hedge funds capability and meeting our clients’ evolving needs in this area.”
Ware adds: “HSBC Global Asset Management has a long and proud history in hedge fund investing and the market remains a key area for the business. I’m excited to be working with the team to develop this further.”
Ware’s appointment follows the recent hiring of Jorge Huitron and Shantini Nair as Senior Product Specialists for private markets and infrastructure debt respectively.
The HSBC Global Asset Management Alternatives team manages, advises on or oversees USD39.2 billion of assets as of 30 June 2019 across hedge funds, infrastructure equity, private debt, direct real estate and infrastructure debt.
