Jain Global has appointed former Credit Suisse prime services co-head Ryan Nelson as head of separately managed account (SMA) investments in London, as the hedge fund continues its operations under an exclusive capital management arrangement with Millennium Management, according to a report by eFinancialCareers.

Nelson joins from Boothbay Fund Management, where he spent approximately three and a half years as head of portfolio construction for EMEA. He previously held senior positions at Credit Suisse, serving as co-head of prime services between 2019 and 2021, including during the collapse of Archegos Capital Management, which resulted in losses exceeding $5bn for the Swiss bank.

Nelson was among nine employees dismissed by Credit Suisse following the Archegos losses and subsequently pursued arbitration proceedings against the bank, seeking at least $7m in compensatory damages and $100m for reputational harm and lost future earnings. In March 2024, a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) panel awarded him just over $590,000 and recommended that his regulatory employment record reflect that he had been terminated without cause.

His appointment comes as Jain Global, founded by former Millennium executive Bobby Jain, operates exclusively with capital from Millennium, marking a shift from its original independent multistrategy hedge fund model.

The hire strengthens Jain Global's expertise in portfolio construction and managed account structures, although the firm has not disclosed the specific responsibilities attached to Nelson's new position.
