Luxembourg Financial Group has seen five managers join its LuxembPARA_BREAK_SENTINEL_9f8e7d6c Luxembourg Financial Group has seen five managers join its Luxembourg Alternatives UCITS Platform over the last month. “We offer tailored solutions to set up managers as UCITS,” says Gareth James, Head of Hedge Fund Solutions LFG, via email. “In some cases we will set up a new umbrella for the manager, where all service providers, including ourselves, are not locked - control rests with the manager. So compared to the investment banks, we offer the necessary independence.” And as UCITS undergoes a paradigm shift, it’s this lock-in to service providers – custodial, PB, swaps – that James believes is no longer acceptable for managers and investors. “They realise that the future of UCITS is not as a satellite but as something that will be the mainstream of their business in Europe and then Asia and beyond. The ability to tap 90% of institutional portfolios is where the real excitement lies.” LAUP aims to have 20 managers onboard by the end of 2011.
