Luxembourg’s Next Generation Absolute Return has taken the bull by the horns by deciding to launch a specialized UCITS investment management business: <PARA_BREAK_SENTINEL_9f8e7d6c Luxembourg’s Next Generation Absolute Return has taken the bull by the horns by deciding to launch a specialized UCITS investment management business: Next Generation UCITS Boutique Select Venture. According to FINalternatives, the aim of the venture is to target boutique investment management firms without any prior UCITS fund management expertise and give them “a complete UCITS solution”. This would include a UCITS fund mandate, early stage capital – provided by the Next Generation ACATIS UCITS Boutique Select Fund – and marketing support. It’s a novel idea and certainly shows the faith Next Generation has in the UCITS sector. It is believed that the firm will identify managers using various channels including portfolios of managers seeded by hedge fund investors, following which a screening process will be conducted by a Next Generation committee. Arnold Sternberg is to head up the committee. Actual portfolio construction and final manager selection falls into the hands of a Next Generation investment team led by ACATIS Investment CEO, Hendrik Leber (pictured). The idea was apparently borne, said Leber, out of the launch of the Next Generation Secquaero ILS Fund, whereby Secquaero Advisors was selected on its proven non-UCITS ILS fund management track record.
