Thalēs has appointed David Modiano as Managing Director of its Capital Strategies group. In his new role, he will be based out of New York and will report to Edouard Robbes, President of Thalēs Capital Partners.
Most recently Modiano (pictured), was a Partner and Head of Business Development at Mill Hill Capital, a New York-based credit hedge fund. Prior to that, he spent ten years combined at Investcorp and Lyxor Asset Management where he was second in command in their hedge fund seeding teams.
“David brings a unique perspective and a track record of success in the industry which will be invaluable to our clients and to Thalēs as we continue to expand our Capital Strategies franchise”, says Robbes. “In the last three years, we have greatly enhanced our capital raising capabilities with the launch of Agora, our online capital introduction platform, but also expanded our offering as we entered the hedge fund distribution business targeting both institutional investors and US private clients“.
Modiano adds: “I am extremely excited to join Thalēs, a group of industry veterans that I have known and respected for over a decade. I have been impressed by the firm’s approach to the hedge fund market which embraces a future grounded in tradition and driven by innovation. I look forward to working towards growing our capital introduction and placement activities.”
“I have personally known David for many years, and his timely addition to our team allows us to broaden both our coverage and our reach,” adds Marc Cohen CEO of Thalēs.
