London-based hedge fund Capula Investment Management is exploring plans to establish an office in Athens, joining a growing number of major hedge fund firms considering operations in Greece, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Capula, which manages more than $35bn in assets, is seeking to recruit an executive to oversee the potential launch, according to a job advertisement. The plans remain at an early stage, with no final decision taken, while a spokesperson for the firm declined to comment.
The move follows similar expansion plans by multistrategy hedge funds Millennium Management and Verition Fund Management. Millennium is establishing an Athens office, with London-based portfolio manager Rahul Chopra among employees relocating to Greece, while Verition is also exploring a presence in the Greek capital.
Greece is increasingly attracting hedge fund firms and senior industry figures through tax incentives aimed at wealthy individuals. Last month, Rokos Capital Management founder Chris Rokos disclosed plans to transfer his tax residency from the UK to Greece, highlighting a broader shift among hedge fund executives considering alternatives to London.
