Veritas Asset Management has added Miki Sugimoto to its Asian team, headed up by Ezra Sun. 

Sugimoto, who is currently Director of Japanese Equity at Newton Investment Management, will move to Veritas in April, where her focus will primarily be the Japanese markets for the firm's pooled and discretionary portfolios. She will also act as assistant fund manager for the specialist Asian funds, the Real Return Asian Fund and the Veritas Asian Fund.

'Miki is an excellent addition to our team,' says Sun. 'Her considerable expertise and experience will be a great complement to our in-house research team.'

Speaking about her new role, Sugimoto adds: 'I am very excited to be joining the team at Veritas and am looking forward to working again with Ezra, whom I worked with at Newton for nine years.'
